Who are we? Phil and Sue Goodman who both grew up with Labradors and Golden Retrievers, but when we married we soon decided to have our own dog and as Phil had seen and been impressed with Flatcoats working in the past that was to be our choice. All our dogs are family pets who all live in the house and anything else we achieve is a special bonus.

It did not take long to find a working bitch "Emma" (Briar of Kentene : Sire Magic Sweep, Dam Westering Warbonnet) - Emma came to live with us in 1980 but sadly died at four years old. Although we only had her for a short time we did lots of activities with her, agility/obedience/gundog training and a little showing, she was not a show dog but the experiences we gained established our joint hobby. We have both been judging at Open Show Level since 1989 and are now Championship Show judges (Breed Specialists). Please see our Judging Page for news of our appointments.

Phil is Vice Chairman of The Flatcoated Retriever Society and on the Societys' Judges and Show Sub-Committee we are also members of the Kennel Clubs' Accredited Breeder Scheme.  Sue is a committee member of The Southern Flatcoated Retriever Club.

We were very lucky in our early showing days to become friends with Jean and Peter Griffiths of the Riversflight Kennel and with Jeans' kind permission feature some of their outstanding dogs on other pages of this site. All photographs of Riversflight dogs owned by Jean and Peter are solely for the use of this site and must not be reproduced in any way.
